In 2009, Benson’s two and a half year old son, Hayden, was diagnosed with stage four cancer of the adrenal glands (neuroblastoma). After a challenging treatment journey, Hayden went into remission for a year, but unfortunately later suffered a relapse and passed away in 2012. Appreciating the support Benson and his family received from CCF, he began his involvement as a volunteer in patient service and supported the CCF through corporate fund-raising, later joining the board of governors in 2016.

Professionally, for over twenty years, Benson has been in the field of consumer product sourcing and procurement, loyalty rewards and retail brands, ranging from clothing, handbags, accessories and homeware, to consumer electronics, toys and beauty care. He has travelled frequently throughout Asia and Europe, overseeing all aspects of ethical and social compliance, manufacturing, product development, supply chain, quality, safety, sustainability and innovation.
