AI Virtual Shaving Attracts Public Participation, Raising Funds for Cancer Research in an Innovative Way

(Hong Kong, 14 March 2026) — The Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) today held the "Head Shaving Shows Solidarity" charity event at the Heritage Hall, 1/F, Central Market. The all-day event was hosted by renowned DJ Audrey Winsome, whose warm and natural style successfully drew a large crowd of public participants.

This year, the event moved into a public venue for the first time, aiming to raise public awareness for childhood cancer through the simple act of head-shaving, while simultaneously raising vital resources for cancer research and CCF's services to benefit more families.

Roberta Chow and Brother Shave in Solidarity, Demonstrating Empathy and Support

Volunteer Event Organiser Ms Roberta Chow led by example at the event. Inspired by her brother, Dr Terence Chow (Founder and Medical Director of Sky One Medical Group), she deeply understood that hair loss often brings immense psychological pressure and impacts the self-image of children and adolescents undergoing treatment. Therefore, she decided to lead by example and was the first to shave her head at the event to convey deep support and understanding to children with cancer.

As Dr Terence Chow was abroad, he joined online from overseas via video link to participate in the head-shaving simultaneously. The sibling duo's joint demonstration became a major highlight of the event, with many citizens capturing the heartwarming moment.

To show their support, Ms Chow’s close friends actively participated and helped launch the "Head Shaving" initiative.

Cancer Survivor Winson Shares His Journey, Resonating with the Audience

The event also invited Mr Winson Leung, a cancer survivor and CCF Governor, to share his personal experience. Diagnosed with lymphoma and leukaemia during childhood, he had to suspend his schooling for two years, but has now successfully become a nurse. During his sharing, he noted that what children face during treatment is not just physical discomfort, but also anxiety about the future and shifts in self-image. He reflected: "The hardest part of treatment was often not the physical discomfort, but the uncertainty of what lies ahead. With companionship and backing, children will find the strength to keep going."

Public Joins the Ranks by Shaving or Trimming Hair, Small Acts Creating Great Support

In addition to the main participants, many members of the public stepped forward to trim or shave their hair in support of children fighting severe illness. Some were driven by personal experiences of watching loved ones battle cancer, while others simply wished to show solidarity. Participants expressed their hope that these actions would let young patients know they are not alone on their recovery journey.

Enthusiastic Response to AI Virtual "Shave for Hope" Experience: Donate $10 to Generate a Personalised Video

The event also introduced an AI-powered "Shave for Hope" online experience, providing an easier way for those unable to shave in person to participate. Members of the public could upload their photos to try a virtual shaved head transformation and share it on social media with a single click. Furthermore, with a donation of HK$10, participants could receive a personalised AI hair-cutting short video, spreading the message of care and solidarity even further into the community.
