| PATIENT SERVICE Children's Cancer Centre
In response to an appeal made in 1989 by the
Foundation for the building of a children's cancer centre, a donor
came forward to help us realize this aspiration.
The Lady Pao Children's Cancer Centre, opened
in 1995, is located within the premises of the Prince of Wales Hospital
as part of the Sir Yue-kong Pao Centre for Cancer.
The Foundation is responsible for the patient-friendly design and
furnishing of this centre, and purchases equipment on a recurrent basis, so that children
with cancer can receive specialist treatment in a comfortable and loving environment.
This Centre is also the Foundation's base at
the Prince of Wales Hospital from which we deliver our important patient
service programme, including counselling, playwork and play therapy.
Two family counsellors and one hospital play specialist of the Foundation
are permanently stationed at the Centre. |
