| PATIENT SERVICE Patient Support - General
The Foundation has established a Parents' Club, based
at the Family Service Centre, that facilitates contact and promotes
communication with and between patients' families. Membership, currently
standing at over 700, is free.
The Foundation also provides other general support services in
the form of liaison between patients, their families and the hospitals in which they
receive treatment. For example, in helping the Prince of Wales Hospital's Children's
Cancer Centre out-patients clinic re-organize their childhood cancer patient files,
patients' waiting time at the clinic is now considerably reduced.
Foundation representatives meet with paediatric
oncologists, neurologists and radiation oncologists from the five
major public hospitals every four months with a view to identifying
patients' needs, ensuring quality of service, and promoting better
co-operation and understanding. |
