PATIENT SERVICE
Palliative and Home Care
Catering to children in the advanced stages of cancer, this service
was launched in late 1999. Palliative and home care creates a privacy
option for patients and parents, reduces the inconvenience in travelling
for treatment and, at the same time, relieves the burden on hospital
resources.
Under the supervision of a consultant, three registered nurses, trained
and experienced in the special needs of palliative care, provide medical
attention to patients in their homes. Counselling and bereavement
care are shared between the nurses and CCF's professional family counsellors.
