| HOSPITAL SERVICE Research
The Foundation supports clinical, psychosocial, laboratory and
playwork research.
Specific research into childhood cancer and
bone marrow transplantation, and the compilation of statistical data
on child cancer patients are being carried out at the Prince of Wales
Hospital and the Queen Mary Hospital. The Foundation provides funds
for equipment and manpower to carry out these on-going projects.
The establishment of a central leukaemia registry
at the Princess Margaret Hospital is being funded by the Foundation.
We provide resources for the effective management of case history
data collated by doctors attending child cancer patients. The information
and statistics collected by this research will enable doctors to obtain
new findings for further planning and research into the disease.
The Foundation has established an annual research
grant for doctors to attain stipulated goals to benefit patients as
well as to contribute to academic and professional development and
knowledge in childhood cancer.
Psychosocial and playwork research is being undertaken by the
Foundation's professional staff. |
