In
Hong Kong, childhood cancer is the second major cause of death among children above the
age of one, next only to accidents and poisoning.
- It claims the lives of 60-70 children a year
- 120-150 new cases develop each year

- The most common types of childhood cancer are:
Leukaemia, brain tumour, lymphoma (cancer of the lymph cells), neuroblastoma (cancer of a
certain type of nerve cells) and Wilms' Tumour (cancer of the kidney).

- The less common cancers are:
Liver tumour, muscle tumour, bone tumour and retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye).

- Treatment of cancer generally incorporates:
Chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and bone marrow transplantation
